How to Assign Ship-to Address to PqW Quotes
Discover step-by-step guidance to assign delivery locations for the Quote items
Introduction
In many sales scenarios, different products within the same quote may need to be delivered to different customer locations.
The Ship To Assignment feature in StrataVAR PqW allows you to:
- Assign delivery locations at the Box level
- Control shipping per major product grouping
- Automatically propagate delivery addresses to related items
- Ensure accurate logistics and documentation
This article explains how Ship To Assignment works, including propagation logic and behavior differences between Standard and Maintenance Quotes.
What Is Ship To Assignment and When It Is Required?
Ship To Assignment is required when:
- A single customer has multiple branch locations
- Different products must be shipped to different sites
- Hardware and services need delivery at separate addresses
- Project-based deployments require location-level distribution
Ship To Assignment allows you to define the delivery location (Account Site) for each Box in a Quote.
The delivery locations available in the dropdown are pulled from:
Account → Account Sites (Delivery Locations)
If required delivery locations are not available, they must be created on the Account record using standard Salesforce methods.
Where Ship To Assignment Is Performed
Navigate to:
Quote → Dropdown Arrow → Ship To Assignment
This opens the Ship To Assignment Grid.
Understanding Shipping Assignment Window
Before assigning Ship To, it is important to understand how quote items are displayed.
In the Ship To Assignment window:
- Items are displayed in grouped structure (Boxes).
- Each group represents a logical product structure.
- The first item in a group is typically the Major Item.
- Subsequent rows are Minor Items.
- The grid shows fields such as: BoM Line Number, Name, Part Number, Description, List Price, Quantity, Total List Price, Item Type, Assigned Ship To, Site Address Fields etc
Each selected record is updated explicitly through the Ship To edit window.

How Ship To Assignment Works (Standard Quote)
When you open the Ship To Assignment Grid in a Standard Quote:
- Only Major Items (Boxes) are displayed
- Minor Items are not shown individually
- Assigning a Ship To value to a Major Item automatically propagates to all Minor Items within that Box
This ensures all related items are delivered to the same location unless structured separately.
