The Set Grouping feature in Edit Quote allows you to organize quote items into boxes and hierarchical groups. Grouping helps structure complex quotes, making them easier to understand, modify, and present to customers.

Using grouping, you can:

• Organize items into logical boxes
• Combine boxes into groups
• Create multi-level group hierarchies
• Control how items appear in customer-facing quotes

Grouping Concepts in Edit Quote

Boxes and Items

Before using grouping, it is important to understand how items are structured in a quote:

• Each grey row in grid represents a box
• A box contains multiple items
• The first item in a box is the Major Item
• All subsequent items are Minor Items

Think of a box as a physical container: items are placed inside it and normally cannot be moved unless the box is unlocked.

Groups

• Groups are structural containers that hold one or more boxes.
• Groups can be nested to form hierarchical structures
• Groups control how items are organized and displayed in the quote
• Groups are created using Set Grouping or Quick Grouping.

Packages

• Packages are presentation-level groupings
• Packages are used primarily for summary quotes and customer presentation
• Packages do not change box structure, grouping hierarchy, or pricing logic
• Packages are created using Set Grouping Packages.

Accessing Grouping Options

Open a quote in Edit Quote mode. Edit Quote provides three grouping-related actions:

• Set Grouping (Black button)
• Set Grouping Packages (Red button)
• Quick Grouping (Blue button)

Each option serves a distinct purpose.

Grouping Buttons Overview

Edit Quote provides three grouping buttons, each serving a different purpose:

Black Button – Set Grouping (Advanced Grouping)

• Opens the full Set Grouping window
• Allows you to: Create  groups, boxes etc. , drag and drop between groups, create multi-level group hierarchies, unlock boxes and move items

This is the primary and most powerful grouping option.

Red Button – Set Grouping Packages

• Used to create packages for summary quotes
• Items are not moved between boxes
• Used mainly for quote summarization and packaging
• Does not affect box structure

Blue Button – Quick Group Creation

• Used for quick grouping
• Select boxes or items in the grid
• Click the blue button
• Enter a group name
• The system creates a group automatically

This is useful for fast grouping without opening the full Set Grouping window.

Structural Grouping Using Set Grouping (Black Button)

Set Grouping is the primary and most powerful grouping option. It allows you to create groups, move boxes, define hierarchies, and reorganize quote structure.

Creating Groups and Boxes Step By Step Process

Step 1: Open Set Grouping

• Click the Set Grouping (black) button.
• All boxes appear in the grouping tree with a box icon.

Step 2: Create a Group

• Click Create and a new file structure will appear with default name as New Node.

• Enter a name (for example, Group A) and Click enter to create the group which is empty at the moment.

Step 3: Move Boxes into a Group

• Select one or more boxes
• Drag and drop them into the target group- Group A
• When allowed, a green check indicator appears

• Drop to confirm.

• If a cross icon appears, the move is not allowed.

Step 4: Save Grouping

• Click Save.

• The grouping structure is immediately reflected in the Edit Quote grid.

Step 5: View Options in Grouping

Use the View (eye) icon to change display modes:

• Collapse All
• View Groups
• View Boxes
• Expand All

These options help navigate large grouping structures.

Grouping Hierarchy Rules

A quote supports only three levels of grouping:

• Group Level 1 – Top-level group
• Group Level 2 – Nested group
• Box Level – Boxes containing items
• Under the box level are the items.

You cannot create a fourth level.
The system will prevent further nesting beyond three levels.

Creating Multi-Level Group Hierarchies

You can nest groups inside other groups to form hierarchies.

Example:

• Vehicles (Group Level 1)
  • Two Wheelers (Group Level 2)
    • Box
    • Items
  • Four Wheelers (Group Level 2)
    • Box
    • Items

Drag and drop groups just like boxes to create hierarchy.

Managing Structural Groups and Boxes

Renaming Groups or Boxes

• Select a group or box
• Click Rename
• Enter the new name
• Click Save

Renaming helps make customer-facing quotes clearer and more meaningful.

Deleting Groups or Boxes

• Select the group or box
• Click Delete

Searching Within Grouping

Use the Search field to:

• Find groups by name
• Find items by part number

Matching results are highlighted in the grouping tree.

Unlock Boxes (Moving Items Between Boxes)

By default, items cannot be moved between boxes.

Why Boxes Are Locked

Boxes are treated as sealed units. Moving items between boxes is restricted to prevent accidental structural changes.

How to Move Items Between Boxes

• In Set Grouping, select Unlock Boxes
• Drag an item from one box to another
• Drop when the green indicator appears
• Click Save
• The item is now moved successfully.

Important Rules About Unlocking Boxes

You must unlock boxes to move items

• Creating a new box only makes sense when items can be moved
• Empty boxes are not saved
• If a box has no items, it will not appear in the quote after saving

This prevents sending empty boxes to customers.

Clear 

• This button allows you to reset the search filters or the selected items in the set packaging view.

Packaging for Summary Quotes Using Set Grouping Packages (Red Button)

Set Grouping Packages is used to package quote items for summarization and presentation, without changing the underlying box or item structure.

Unlike Set Grouping (advanced grouping), packages do not move items between boxes. Instead, they create logical collections of items that are primarily used when generating summary or package-level quotes.

When to Use Set Grouping Packages

Use Set Grouping Packages when you want to:

• Create customer-friendly package groupings
• Summarize complex quotes into high-level packages
• Present multiple configurations or bundles without restructuring items
• Control how items roll up in summary views

Packages are especially useful for large or complex quotes where item-level detail is not required in customer-facing documents.

Creating Grouping Packages

Step 1- Opening Set Grouping Packages Window

• Click the Set Grouping Packages button (red button) in the toolbar

Understanding Package Structure

In Set Grouping Packages:

• Groups represent packages
• Items can appear in multiple packages
• The same item can be reused without duplication
• Quantities can differ per package

Important distinctions:

• Packages do not affect pricing logic
• Items remain unchanged in their original boxes
• Packages are independent of structural grouping

Step 2: Creating a Package

• Click Create
• A new package appears with a default name (for example, New Node)
• Set the name of the package as required
• Packages are empty when created.

Step 3: Adding Items to a Package

• Select one or more items from the list
• Drag and drop them into the target package

• The item now appears under the selected package
