How to Clone Multiple Items (Box-Level Cloning)
Learn how to efficiently clone quote boxes in your editing process for better organization and streamlined content management.
Introduction
Cloning boxes allows you to quickly duplicate an existing box along with all its line items. This is useful when the same configuration needs to be repeated with minor quantity, pricing, or discount adjustments—without rebuilding the structure from scratch.
This action preserves the box hierarchy and line items, enabling faster quote creation and easier comparison between configurations.
When to Use Cloning Boxes
Use the Clone Boxes action when you need to:
- Replicate a complete solution or configuration
- Create multiple variations of the same box
- Apply different quantities, discounts, or pricing to similar setups
- Avoid manually re-adding the same items multiple times
Step By Step Process
Step 1: Select the Box(es)
- In the Edit Quote grid, locate the box you want to duplicate.
- Use the checkbox next to the box header row to select one or more boxes.
- All items under the selected box are automatically included.

You can clone multiple boxes at the same time.
Step 2: Click Clone Boxes
- From the action toolbar, click Clone Boxes icon.
- The Cloning Info dialog opens.

Understanding the Cloning Info Dialog
The cloning dialog controls how the selected boxes and their items are duplicated.
Field: Additional Clone Count
- Specifies how many additional copies of the selected box(es) should be created.
- Default value is 1, meaning one duplicate will be created per selected box.
-
Example:
If one box is selected and the clone count is set to 2, two new identical boxes are created.

Option: Add Clone Items to New Groups
When enabled:
- Each cloned box is placed into a new group instead of the existing one.
- This helps keep original and cloned configurations clearly separated.
When disabled:
- The cloned box is added alongside the original within the same group.

Field: Prefix of Group Name
(Displayed only when “Add clone items to new groups” is selected)
- Defines a prefix for automatically generated group names.
- The system appends incremental suffixes to maintain uniqueness.
- Example: NewG1, NewG1-1, NewG1-2

This ensures cloned groups are easy to identify in complex quotes.
Option: Also Move the Original Boxes into a Separate New Group
When enabled:
- The original selected box(es) are also moved into a newly created group.
- This keeps original and cloned boxes isolated into separate groups.
This option is useful when:
- You want a clean structural separation between original and cloned configurations
- You are preparing multiple alternative solution sets in a single quote

Actions
- Clone – Executes the cloning operation using the selected options.
- Cancel – Closes the dialog without making changes.
Result After Cloning
Once cloning is complete:
- A new box (or boxes) appears in the quote
- All line items, quantities, and structure are preserved
- Pricing, margins, and totals update automatically
- Cloned boxes can be edited independently from the original

There is no refresh action required. All changes are reflected immediately in the grid and summary.
Things to Note
Cloning copies structure and line items, not downstream approvals or external references.
Any inline or detail-view edits made after cloning apply only to the selected box.
Grouping and naming conventions help prevent confusion in large quotes—use them intentionally.
Conclusion
The Clone Boxes feature lets you quickly duplicate existing box configurations and reuse line items without rebuilding them. By cloning boxes and organizing them into groups, you can efficiently create variations and manage complex quotes with greater speed and clarity.
